EverQuest II is Now 64-Bit

As of this morning, EverQuest II has been ported over to 64-bit servers and clients! We've worked long and hard for this day, and we're excited to see where development for the game will go from here.

This update will allow the utilization of more of the memory on your computer and on our servers. Previously, no matter how much physical or virtual memory was on your machine, we were limited to using 4GBs of it. With 64-bit servers and clients, we can now use up to 16 exabytes which improves stability and addresses critical performance issues some players have experienced in the past relating to memory.

LaunchPad will automatically update your client today and you will be able to enjoy EverQuest II in a new and improved way. Also, because of this migration, we are no longer able to support 32-bit systems.

As a final refresher, here are some technical specs you'll need to meet or exceed in order to play:

  • Processor: Intel Core 2 Duo E4400/AMD Athlon x2 4050e
  • Memory: 6 GB RAM
  • Graphics:  Nvidia GeForce 8800/AMD Radeon HD 2600 XT or higher (comparison chart)
  • Network: Broadband Internet Connection

Our sincerest gratitude to everyone who helped test the 64-bit port on Test and on Beta. You've made this momentous change possible. Happy hunting, Norrathians!
