All Treats, No Tricks – Daybreak Celebrates Halloween Across Its Suite Of Games

Daybreak Games is sharing the Halloween spirit with players across its wide range of games. Whether players are looking to go batty in DC Universe Online, navigate through a shifting wheat maze in The Lord of the Rings Online, or smash some space pumpkins in PlanetSide 2 – just to name a few – Daybreak is doing its part to get folks into Halloween mode.

Here’s a quick rundown of what’s happening across Daybreak Games’ games this month, along with links to the complete details.

DC Universe Online

Don’t be fooled by its name – DC Universe Online’s Witching Hour event, which is live now, spans hundreds of hours! And similarly, the special Midnight Masquerade event can be enjoyed any darn hour you’d like. Who knows? Maybe you’ll get transformed into a vampire bat and embark in a race around Arkham Asylum to earn Spooky Bites, which can be exchanged for cool unlocks? Actually, that’s exactly what can happen. Those cosmetic unlocks include a sweet array of mummy and candy-themed duds. Or, for characters who prefer subtlety, a Pumpkin Patch pattern for your fit lets them share their enthusiasm for the best holiday without going completely all in. DCUO’s event is live now, running through November 4.

Dungeons & Dragons Online

Dungeons are, unsurprisingly, an important element of Dungeons & Dragons Online. It’s only fitting that its Halloween event, The Night Revels, delivers dungeon-y thrills and chills. This year introduces the exciting new 'Shop till You Drop' dungeon, where players become personal shoppers for an overwhelmed scientist. As they navigate through hordes of shambling consumers, they must collect critical items needed for his important research! And what’s Halloween without a good costume? Characters can fully get into the festivities by unlocking new cosmetic rewards themed around looking like a stone-cold deadly dandy. Get in on the action from now until November 3.

EverQuest

Let’s be real for a moment: Jack-o’-lantern on the noggin is hands-down the best possible aesthetic. It’s just common sense. Thank goodness EverQuest gets it – the pioneering MMORPG’s Visage of a Sarnak Skeleton is just a fancy way of saying “Jack-o’-lantern on the noggin.” That new Illusion is just a small sample of what EQ’s Nights of the Dead has to offer. Ten sinister dark housing items are available to make your house a haunt. And that’s no trick; we’re talking Sinister Dark Fireplace, Sinister Dark Sconce, and Sinister Dark Bed, just to name a few! Players can also visit special NPCs across the world who can point to a variety of Halloweeny quests. Players from now until November 5 to enjoy Nights of the Dead.

EverQuest II

Looking for a frightfully good time? EverQuest II has you covered. You know, covered like a homemade ghost costume? Never mind. Calcified skeletons are running amok in Antonica, the Commonlands, and Nektulos Forest. Slay them (and other creeps), and you might get a sweet little candy drop. Players can tackle 16 Halloween quests, outfit their in-game home with altogether ooky décor, and much more! Thank goodness EQII players will have from now until November 4 to dig into all this spooktacular stuff – and to claim a free adorable pumpkin-headed dragon pet!

The Lord of the Rings Online

Hobbits don’t celebrate Halloween, because it’s technically an Our-earth holiday. That doesn’t mean that the denizens of The Lord of the Rings Online don’t know how to throw a wicked fall party. The Harvestmath Festival is live now through November 3, giving players access to a host of Fall activities including a visit to a Haunted House Burrow, apple bobbing, pumpkin picking, a Wheat Maze that changes daily, and much more.

Magic: The Gathering Online

Frank Lepore’s curated Magic: The Gathering Online Horror Cube is back and better than ever! The addition of the Duskmourn: House of Horror set has given Frank even more wicked tools for constructing the most fiendish version of the Cube yet. The Horror Cube is live now and is exclusively available in MTGO through October 25. And, rest assured, you can play with this Cube without fear of summoning creepy, leather-clad sadomasochists into our world. Probably.

PlanetSide 2

The threat of getting sniped from who knows where already makes PlanetSide 2 a terrifying experience, so why not bump it up a few notches? The shooter’s Nanite of the Living Dead event pulls inspiration from both Halloween and Dia De Los Muertos, meaning it’s a great destination if you’re into skulls and pumpkins. Sorry, Space Pumpkins. Blast one of those galaxy-faring gourds and you’ll get a nice XP boost. Better still, you don’t have to clean the pumpkin goop off your shoes afterward. The event is running now through October 31.
